Now the Hero for today. Today’s hero is my former Bishop, Esteban Martorell. Two bishops for the price of one. LOL
Yea,a nd this is my glory, that perhaps I may be an instrument in the hands of God to bring some soul to repentance; and this is my joy. Alma 29:9
Esteban is my hero because he was so pivotal in getting me to the temple. When I told him about my past during the repentance process so I could get to the temple, I thought he would go screaming into the night. But he didn’t. He also didn…’t condemn me. He didn’t make me feel like I was unworthy of God’s love. Though he was clear that I had committed some pretty serious sins, he never once showed me anything but compassion.
Esteban would later become my home teacher and he would talk to me, encourage me and took his calling as my home teacher very seriously. Unlike visiting teaching, the last visiting teaching session I had with anyone in my ward was with Teresa Love, I have had really great home teachers.
Among others thing, I love hearing Esteban giving his testimony. It is also so moving and gives one pause. He is a wonderful father and husband-according to his beautiful wife, Chancee and he has been a great influence in my life. He recently graduated from law school and I am on the same path. It is nice to have a living example of what can be done when you put your mind to it.
For all of these reasons, today’s hero is Esteban Martorell.
