LACC’s ASO Appoints New Senator for Disabled Students

Published December 16, 2010 by blacknright

Note: Sorry I am so late putting this up but it is called finals people. LOL

On November 29, 2010,  I went to a Senate meeting at LACC to see if I would be appointed a senatorship. After the last debacle with ASO, I knew better to count on anything. For a refresher go to: https://blacknright.wordpress.com/2009/10/15/conservative-student-is-not-welcomed-in-laccs-aso/

I got there and they had forgotten my paperwork…and I was like “Okay here we go again.” But this time they were able to locate it and I was able to put forth my case before the board.  I was voted in! It was a great feeling.  And so I was off and running. I have devised a survey for disabled students to take so I can get to know their needs. I have emailed and talked to the person who runs the Office of Special Services (OSS) and I have talked to the President of ASO about creating a fundraiser to get more funds to OSS.

Then last Friday we were nominating people for stipends and my good friend, Andrea nominated me for one.  He said all these wonderful things about me and I just wanted to cry (It’s a girl thing, alright!? LOL). So, of course, I nominated him as well. We should be receiving the funds no later than our 99th birthday. LOL

In the meantime, I have taken my last final, which I think I did fairly well on. I am quaking in my boots waiting for my Math 125 grade to be posted. I haven’t bought one Christmas gift for anyone (well actually Andrea got his, along with the other people in my Entertainment IP club), my phone is not working, me and my kid are going to have to spend three weeks together without killing each other, Andrea is on his way to Italy-I won’t see him for two months and I am stressed, exhausted and am sure to gain at least 10 pounds in these next few weeks.

Sorry about that, this about me being appointed to the ASO Senate isn’t it? Forgive my meltdown. I guess I am losing my mind over here. I think that makes me a real Senator after all, doesn’t it?

America’s Independent Women

"The Third-Term Panic", by Thomas Na...

Image via Wikipedia

I have been asked to speak on Chelene Nightingale’s behalf at Los Angeles City College during their Voter Ed seminar that they will be presenting on November 1st at 1pm. Chelene Nightingale is the American Independent Party gubernatorial candidate (Note: What a funny word-gubneratorial. Does that make all our governors-goobers? LOL) I have been officially allowed by her campaign to speak on her behalf, so it is just not me going out there as a supporter but it is in a somewhat official capacity as well.

If you look closely at this race, you will see a large number of women running for public office. We have two women running for governor and neither one is a Democrat. We have two women running for the Senate seat. Men seem almost non-existent in this race. Women and minorities have come to realize that the Democratic policies –which were supposed to make their lives better and provide equality–have failed miserably. Because of this those who were before beholden to the Democratic Party are beginning to reject it.

This has led women (and men) to leave the failing two party system and seek out other alternative third parties. While the Dems and GOP continue to fight among themselves, people are looking towards creating and promoting already established third parties. Let the Dems and Republicans mock this growing movement. As Mahatma Ghandi once said:  “First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win.” We are going to win and it will be those “independent” breed of women and men that bring it to pass.

It has been an honor to work with Chelene’s campaign manager, Dani. She has been quite a  help as I try to promote Chelene as the best candidate we have for governor. Why is she the best candidate you ask? In my opinion she is the best candidate she has the best vision for California and has a plan on how to get us there. She wants to give homeschooling parents, a tax credit.  She wants to bring jobs back to California by giving small businesses tax incentives and tax breaks. She wants to halt illegal immigration by attrition. By forcing illegals to go back home, there will be more needed services for those who are in this country legally and its citizens. These reforms are needed to get this state back on its feet again.

I think it is imperative that we stop looking to the broken two party system, which is really the one party system, and start coming up with new ways to impact our government. Whether Chelene wins or loses she is taking a stand and putting the politicians on notice. We don’t need politicians, we need public servants and I feel that is what Chelene Nightingale brings to the table, more so than her rivals.

Scott Brown Wins but Will America?

Published January 21, 2010 by blacknright

Scott Brown defeated Martha Coakley yesterday in a special election to fill Ted Kennedy’s seat. Evenwith Obama and the Kennedys behind her she could still only garner 47% of the voters support.  Scott received 52%-and while hardly a landslide, it is a pretty significant indicator that the arrogance and elitism of the Democratic party will not be tolerated any longer. More than anything, it was Coakley’s snobbery that did her in. Incidents like this did not certainly help her.

Asked about why she was not spending more time with voters, Coakley jabbed at Brown for having greeted hockey fans who attended a special outdoor game between the Boston Bruins and the Philadelphia Flyers.

“As opposed to standing outside Fenway Park? In the cold? Shaking hands?” she said.

Such one-on-one interaction with voters is the lifeblood of this state’s politics, and mocking the idea of braving the cold at Boston’s iconic baseball stadium seemed bizarre given the tens of thousands of voters who did just that to see the game.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/politico/20100119/pl_politico/31637

I know because Obama recovered from his clinging to guns and religion gaffe that you thought you too could get away with such mocking of the voting population but hate to break it to you Coakley he is always going to get away with stuff you never will be, so don’t even try it. I guess she learned that lesson a bit too late.

But now that Scott Brown has been elected what does that mean for the GOP? Will he betray his conservative base that got him elected?  Will they seat him before the vote for health care comes up.  Michael Steele of the Republican National Convention said on Good Morning America, the Democrats are trying to put off seating him.  They want to wait at least three weeks..for what? When Roland Burris was going to fill the Obama seat it was done in a matter of days. Never mind that the whole process had been tainted by Rod Blagojevitch who was accused of trying to sell the seat to Jesse Jackson Jr and Roland Burris. While Roland denied it, he also allowed himself to be seated among all this controversy. It was truly stupid in my opinion.  Yet Roland had not been picked by the people but was appointed by the Senate, so why is it  when the people speak, it is going to take three weeks?

So now comes the hard part. Winning the election was the easy part, getting him into the Senate is going to be a whole lot harder.  They know  Scott will be fundamental in shooting down the health care bill and they can’t allow that to happen.  When Obama’s campaign manager David Plouffe was interviewed by Good Morning America he had this to say:

“We won the House and Senate in 2006, we won the White House in 2008. … People sent the unmistakable message they wanted change. We have to deliver on that,” former Obama campaign manager David Plouffe said on “GMA.”

“The Republicans have chosen their path: They are doing the bidding of insurance companies, just as they’re going to do with big banks as it relates to financial reform. We have a good health care plan, and we need to pass that,” Plouffe said.

http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/scott-brown-defeat-coakley-means-obama/story?id=9609602

The incredulous and arrogance of that statement is astounding. Basically, it was a very nice way of giving everyone who has legitimate beefs with the healthcare bill the finger. As a parent I know there are times when you have to do something that is for the good of your child whether or not they agree with it.  However, we are not children and to treat the voting public like children is beyond insulting. He also went on to say they were going to pass it in its current form, no compromises. So much for bipartisanship.

So Scott Brown won, but we have yet to see if that will be a good thing for America or will be just another RINO, only time will tell. And for the health of our country, let’s hope he is not a RINO in pachyderm clothing and Lord help us if he is.

Conservative Student is Not Welcomed in LACC’s ASO

Published October 15, 2009 by blacknright

q1592684838_9225Ah the beauty of blogging! If I can’t get anyone else to tell my story then I can always do it myself. So here it goes:

I recently applied for a Senate position with my school’s Associated Student Organization (ASO).  I was called back to interview and I got the run around.  The person who would be conducting the interview was James Butler Zatino. He is the current president of ASO and does wield considerable influence in the process.  After playing phone tag, after trying to track him down I finally get an interview.  The interview goes pretty well, with my nervousness I do fumble a little but I recover overall. He asks me if the position I wanted was not open would I be willing to accept another one. I tell him yes. So I hear back from him and he says,  these are the positions available and for me to pick one.  He tells me to come back later that day at about 1 to let him know what position I picked. I get there and he is not there.  So I leave a message telling him what position I picked.  I run into him later and let him know I want the Senator at large position and that is when it all falls apart.

I am asked straight out, what is my political position? I tell him that I am asologoconservative and he winces as if I actually stabbed him or committed some other violent act against him.  He asks me how to conservative, so I jokingly tell him “I make Rush Limbaugh look like a flaming liberal.”  He then tells me, “Well you are going to have to represent all the students.” I tell him, “I don’t have a problem with that but though I will represent the liberal students I will not tell the conservative students who come to me that I am not going to listen to them or that their voice can’t be heard as well.” Well that doesn’t fly with him.

cornerI was supposed to be appointed the following week. He doesn’t show up and no one can find my paper work so it is going to have to wait until the following week. Then yesterday right before I was to get appointed I get two calls. One tells me appointments are being postponed and then the other telling me they have gone with someone else.

It was then that I went to the Dean of Student Life at Los Angeles City College and filed a complaint.  I am also in the process of talking to http://www.campusreform.org about the situation. I will also be heading to my school paper to let them know what is going on.  This should not be tolerated.

The thing is I don’t have embrace liberal ideology to be able to represent the students as a whole in the Senate.  Just like they don’t have to embrace my conservative ideology.  The thing is that they want a yes man, someone will just go along for the ride and not make any waves. Well they are not going to get that in me. I can represent all students because  I will listen to all students and take the best ideas from them and run with them.  But they just want a liberal parrot.  I wasn’t going to lie or downplay my conservatism. I feel they should know exactly who they are they getting  and if this was a club on campus like the Liberal Lions or some other club that pretty much catered to only liberal minded students then that is one thing. But you can’t say you represent the student population when you clearly do not!

This is not also the first time something like this has happened to me.  I was up for an internship during August. It was a paid internship. I would be helping to recruit students and organizing events. To show my experience in organizing political events-though truth be told they were small-I told them about my work with Silent No More Awareness Campaign and the male professor on the committee who is a political science professor-laid into me. “Well we are pretty far left do you think you could promote our agenda?”  He went from “pretty far left” to “extremely left” to trying to bait me about my abortion views. He was antagonistic and all in pretty obnoxious and I was glad I wouldn’t have to be working with this man. With his hostile attitude I thought they might be staging a coup d’etat or something. The fellow student I would’ve been working with was nice,  friendly and even if he was “extremely left” he had the common decency not to display any such obnoxious and unprofessional behavior! He was definitely a class act which is more than I can say for that professor! I don’t remember his last name but his first name was Zack and I am sorry I didn’t have a chance to work with him, I think we could’ve learned a lot from each other.

Things need to change at LACC and while I don’t think I am entitled to any position, I do think  it is unfair to be offered the position and then have it withdrawn, for no other reason then they don’t like my politics.  Well you know what ASO and Professor Hateful, I don’t like yours either! And if you think you are going to get away with treating students so abominably-you got another think coming!

The Garden of Feed Them

Published March 20, 2009 by blacknright

michelle-obama2There was a nice little news clipping about Michelle Obama and the food garden she plans to plant in the White House.

White House to break ground on ‘kitchen garden’

Now, if it was just Michelle, that would be fine. One needs a hobby right? However, Michelle plans to get the local children involved in it. Also on the surface, nothing very sinister-in fact, it is almost heart warming. Michelle inviting the children over to help her with her new hobby, gardening. What could be sweeter? But at closer read, it becomes a bit more subversive.

garden-radishHere is the gist, Michelle Obama is going invite school age children to come plant and harvest a garden only to end up feeding the White House. The children will not be getting the vast majority of the food they grow, fat cat Senators and Congressmen will! So basically you have a bunch of poor kids feeding the rich! How in the world is this a positive thing? If the kids were doing this and they were able to take everything they grew back home, I could see the benefits. If the children were to sell the food and donate it to a charity, I could see the benefits. If the children were to directly donate it to a soup kitchen, a battered woman’s shelter or other such organization, I could see the benefits of it! However none of this is the case.

Back in the day, we had a group of people who were poor and whose sole slave-picturepurpose was to feed the rich, we called them SLAVES!!! It is ironic for a man who compares himself to Lincoln all the time somehow missed we had a whole civil war over the very thing he is attempting to do right now! And before you talk about how no one is going to be forced and that they are sure to get permission from their parents for this, remember the Europeans originally got permission from the tribal chiefs to take the people to America. Lastly remember the slaves were never paid or otherwise compensated for their work and neither will these children be.

Back in the 20’s we instituted child labor laws to prevent this kind of thing. This is exploitation not education. The whole purpose of this was not to educate children but was brought up by a chef, Alice Waters, who has done fundraising dinners in Washington prior to the inauguration of Obama. However, she has been trying to convince the White House since 1992 to use this method as a cheap and healthy way to feed the White House. So it was always her idea to feed the White House, not anyone else with the food grown at the White House. It was Michelle Obama’s bright idea to bring children into it. Now if they wanted to bring children into it why not the children of the Senators, Congress and the rest of the staff of the White House? Since they are going to be the ones consuming it, shouldn’t they be the ones doing the work?

And while the children have promised to stay involved nowhere in the article does it say, Michelle has. Therefore, it will really be the children who are responsible for it, not Michelle or the White House even though it is benefiting them. Ms. Waters goes on to say: “It just tells you that this country cares about people’s good health and about the care of the land,” she said. “To have this sort of ‘victory’ garden, this message goes out that everyone can grow a garden and have free food.” Victory gardens were vegetable gardens planted during the world wars with encouragement from the government to make sure there was enough food for civilians and the troops. Waters says her family had such a garden.

Okay but this food is neither going to civilians or the troops, so how is it a american-troops-huddlevictory garden? Not only that, how does this show that anyone can have free food? All it shows is if you sucker some kids in doing your work, you too can have “free food!” Initially, I was going to say this was nothing but a demonstration of the Obama’s socialist beliefs. However, if it truly was socialist, the food would be distributed evenly among the children and the White House since it is not, it is a clear demonstration of tyranny. You do the work, we take the results! Welcome to Obamanation.

Black Pastors Ask Burris to Resign

Published February 20, 2009 by blacknright

blago-and-burrisThe Associated Press received a story saying that some Black pastors from Chicago are getting together to ask Roland Burris to resign his seat.  Those of you who are not Black and/or don’t know much abouth Black community know this:  When the Black pastors stop supporting you, you are done for.  Nothing much gets done in the Black community without the help of the church.  On an average, more Blacks then Whites attend church on a weekly basis and therefore the church has more importance in their lives.

You have to look no further than Reverends Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton, to see the significant influence being a “pastor” is.  Whether or not you like them, they shape the opinion of many Black people out there.  Some of us are waking up to the huckseters they are,  but there is still a large crowd who believe anything they say because they are “men of God.”  Though I don’t think either one has talked to Elohim in a long time.

The Toledo Blade said that the pastors originally chose Burris for that seat because he was scandal-free.  Well then the pastors shouldn’t have pushed him to take the seat from someone who was so connected with scandal at the time.  These pastors if they really care about integrity should have advised him,  “Don’t accept it.  Not until this Blago nightmare is over and someone else can seat you. ” That would’ve been the wise and ethical thing to do.  Now they are finding out that Burris did have contact with Blago’s brother in regards to fundraising for  Blago’s campaign and in return he would be offered the seat.  Well what did you expect? He was willing to go to court to fight over a tainted Senate seat! Did you really think he was a moral man who just wanted to do the right thing?

The sad part even if Roland Burris led an exemplary life up to this point, this is what he will be remembered for. Is this the legacy he really wants to leave as he departs this world? And though the pastors haven’t met with Burris yet, you can bet that once they do, Burris can fight to retain that seat all he wants to, it will be futile. He pissed off the Black pastors-may God and the Chicago pastors have mercy on his soul.
