Idaho: The “Meat and Potatoes” of the Pro-Life Movement!

Idaho seems to be the place to go if you are pro-life.  In the past week, they have passed two pro-life laws that will protect unborn children. The first one is a piece of legislation regarding free ultrasounds:

“HB 516 builds on a 2007 informed consent law which required abortion facilities that use ultrasound equipment to inform the pregnant mother she has the option of viewing the ultrasound and obtaining a picture of her unborn baby.”

ultrasound machineOf course, the pro-choicers are up in arms because they say it restricts choice. Excuse me, as someone who has spent her entire life utilizing the healthcare system in one way or another, how does giving someone all the information about the procedure they are about to have “restricting choice?”  More women die from heart attacks than any other cause but I don’t see people telling women, “Finding out about your upcoming bypass is restricting choice!” They don’t because it is illogical and makes no sense. The pro-choicers don’t want women to see the ultrasounds because when they do, they change their minds and don’t have the abortion.

So why do abortion providers avoid showing ultrasound images to women? Perhaps this is because up to 78% of women to see an ultrasound of their babies choose not to have abortions (4). Adam Cohen“The Next Abortion Battleground: Fetal Heartbeats” Time Ideas October 17, 2011

Is clear, it is not about protecting women at all. The fact is, when they show ultrasounds to women they lose money, plain and simple. However, the ultrasound legislation, which Idaho is the 14th state to admit, is not the only new law that the governor has seen fit to sign. The other law deals selling aborted fetuses from abortion. The law is called SB  1404 Idaho Unborn Infants Dignity Act:

Governor Otter signed SB1404 into law on Tuesday, April 5th.  This landmark legislation, known as the Idaho Unborn Infants Dignity Act, makes a huge step forward in affirming the value of the preborn child.  The new law makes it illegal to harvest organs and body parts from aborted babies.  It also makes it illegal to conduct medical experiments using tissue harvested from babies killed by abortion.

This law is important because it not only makes selling aborted fetuses illegal, which is already the case at the federal level but it makes using aborted fetuses illegal to use for medical experiments. Remember Planned Parenthood said they were doing nothing wrong when the aborted fetuses story broke last year because they were simply donating the bodies for medical research. By having this law Planned Parenthood could no longer even claim that and would be brought up on charges.  More states need to come up wth stricter laws like this.

The first law mentioned in this article was passed on April 1, 2016. The second was passed April 5, 2016, so in a mere 4 days there were two pro-life laws were passed. That is more than most states have seen in years. This was possible for two reasons 1) A strong pro-life Governor and 2) A strong pro-life legislature. Without these two things not only would there would be no bill written but if it had been it would have been tied up in the legislature forever.

“There are many people to thank for this great pro-Life victory,” said David Ripley, ICL Executive Director.  “Let’s begin with the lead sponsors of the legislation, Sen. Cliff Bayer and Rep. Brent Crane.  Both of these men signed up early in the wake of the horrible revelations regarding Planned Parenthood’s nasty side business of trading baby parts for Lamborghinis.  We had dozens of co-sponsors as well.  Idaho is well-served by such citizens willing to accept the responsibility of serving their neighbors at the Capitol”.

That same article further declares: “Idaho is blessed to have a pro-Life governor and legislature.  This legislation is a strong statement of principle and decency at a time when the nation desperately needs such leadership.  Hopefully the Idaho Unborn Infants Dignity Act can be used in other states as a model response to the on-going horrors of an unbridled abortion industry.” (ibid)

Idaho is also one of the few states to try to defund Planned Parenthood. Despite the fraudulent protests of Planned Parenthood that closing down the 3 (yes, just 3!) Planned Parenthoods would be catastrophic to Idaho:

Idaho currently has three Planned Parenthood health centers that provided 18,156 services to 7,404 patients in 2014.

Defunding Planned Parenthood would mean taking away funding for all three of these clinics and moving it to other health centers.

medical picOh, how awful there are only 122 more low-cost health clinics for them to go to. Whatever
are they going to do?  Women are going to be dying in the street without those 3 clinics!

Efforts to defund or investigate Planned Parenthood have come back to the front burner since a conservative group started to release undercover videos in July that, it says, show Planned Parenthood officials discussing the sale of fetal tissue, stirring revulsion among many abortion opponents.

“I personally found the national videos to be abhorrent,” said Rep. Steve Hartgen, R-Twin Falls, who said he would support a state investigation into Planned Parenthood. “I don’t know how one could look at those videos and not be concerned.”

Idaho is showing the way for the rest of country. If you want to get things done you don’t keep electing the same people over and over again. We need to elect truly strong, pro-life conservatives that will come through and vote their conscience not their pocketbook. [Hey didn’t some writer do an article about pocketbook voting, yeah she did a good job too, you might want to check it out again-]
