A Black Mormon & Proposition 8

Marvin Perkins, a Black Mormon, speaks out on Propositon 8. He was interviewed for CNN but CNN cut out a lot of his talk. This is what they left out. With marriage in turmoil, it is time we stood up for traditional marriage, which has always been the cornerstone of society. We have seen what becomes of a society that devalues this institution.

My favorite part of this video is when the interviewer asks him about the interracial ban and Marvin tells them that Blacks were forbidden to marry whites, but they weren’t given domestic partnerships like gays are. There was nothing for Blacks, that is a tremendous difference. Watch this video, ponder what Proposition 8 really means and then go out and vote Yes on Prop 8 on November 4th.

  1. Thanks for the great interview. As someone who people constantly try to bring out the interracial marriage card against, it’s always refreshing to hear explanations to the differences between the ban on interracial marriage before, and the ban on same-sex marriage now.

Also, very interesting stuff on Carol Corrigan, I had no idea.

  2. Of course vote NO on PROP 8, PLEASE, but it is a sickening, disgusting vote in the first place.

Imagine a heterosexual man sitting back peacefully as society voted on whether he, his wife, and his children deserved the rights and protections of civil marriage. What would HE think of PROP 8 in CA? Would he even THINK of opening up his wallet to fund a PR drive to gain a chance to “win” this civil right? Or would it be “Live Free or Die”?

Yet we (the gay community), and our allies have agreed – AGREED – to hash out this “debate” with a public PROP 8 lottery (it’s not a debate…I KNOW I DESERVE MARRIAGE).

Here’s my “NON-Debate for PROP 8” – It really doesn’t matter what others may “think” or “not think” at this point.

I will not pay an organization for Human Rights, Family Rights, Civil Rights, or Constitutional Rights. I will simply refuse to file my IRS tax returns until my FAMILY is equal under the law.

  3. John, I will vote on it. Back in 1993, I was denied the opportunity to marrry the man I love because to do so would meant to lose our income. We were already living hand to mouth and couldn’t afford a fifty percent cut from each of our checks! I was a grown woman, he a grown man. Both of us capable of having children. Yet we were denied marriage. So until every person on SSI can marry, until every college student can marry without losing their health benefits, until every poor person can marry, until every straight person can marry regardless of income marry I don’t want to hear how unfair it is for gay people! I will uphold traditional marriage and I will fight for the rights for those who are truly being denied marriage the right to marry!

  4. Wow such an intelligent rebuttal Jesus. Not only that you are bold enough to use the name of our Lord and Saviour in such an unseemingly fashion-I know I could never do that. Once again, thank you for stopping by and displaying the true character of the liberal movement. A movement while espousing, love, respect and kindness cannot tolerate any dissent. People like you are a detriment to your own cause, people like John Bisceglia can at least articulate a coherent thought and present his side passionately and with conviction without resorting to name calling. People like John will lose because defenders like you continue to mar the impression of those on his side. So while you severely hurt his cause. You help mine, so thanks again.

  5. Stop GOVERNMENTAL PSYCHOLOGICAL WARFARE on the Q Community and their children!

    PROOF – http://www.apa.org/releases/glbt-stress-1108.html

The National Equality Tax Protest will be on Wednesday, April 15th, 2009.

Many more individuals are FINALLY gathering to TAKE A STAND against persecution from the Catholics, Mormons & the Christian “Right”. No vote will be needed on this one, folks.

EQUALITY is SIMPLE when you simply include EVERYONE.

  6. Yeah, like the APA is a legitimate scientific organization, they sold out their ethics long ago, when they took homosexuality out the DSM-II due to intimidation by the gay community and not based on any fact.

And if you are having psychological problems it is because homosexuality is a type of psychosis-duh! No different than schizophrenia or bipolar disorder. Except there are no indoctrination classes in schools to accept schizophrenia as something wonderful that should be explored.

And if you don’t like Mormons, Catholics or other people of faith speaking out-too bad! Go to Iraq-oh wait you can’t the Muslims would kill you there wouldn’t they? In the meantime we have every right to speak out on issues we feel passionate about and you have no idea what you have started. If you think you are not going to take it, well neither of we and there are alot more of us then you and we will not back down! We are in this for the long haul. Unlike you we don’t have to resort to violence because we have the ballot box! We are stronger then you irrational militants will ever be. Your cause is dying and rightfully so!

In the meantime I think it is a good idea you have to piss off the IRS, I mean they are not a vindictive bunch are they? LOL

  8. Marvin Perkins is lost in Mormonism. The Mormon religion preaches RACIST evil Doctrines about Black Skinned people.

LDS Mormons Believe The seed of Cain and Ham are the Africans who where Cursed Black in the LDS Mormon Pearl of great Price Scriptures (This is not in the HOLY BIBLE)

“. . . there was a blackness came upon all the children of Canaan, that they were despised among all people . . . (Pearl of Great Price Moses 7:8).”

“And . . . they were a mixture of all the seed of Adam save it was the seed of Cain, for the seed of Cain were black, and had not place among them (Pearl of Great Price Moses 7:22).”

This teaches White Mormons that Black skin is a CURSE FROM the Mormon GOD (THIS IS NOT IN THE HOLY BIBLE)

“…cursing to come upon them, yea, even a sore cursing…the Lord God did cause a skin of BLACKNESS to come upon them (Book of Mormon 2 Nephi 5:21)”

“And the skins..were DARK,according to the MARK which was set upon their fathers..which WAS A CURSE upon them…(Book of Mormon,Alma 3:6)”

“and the CURSING which hath come upon their skins…(Book of Mormon, Jacob 3:5)”
