And yes, Nick they are funded by fees the students pay. I paid 7 dollars to be a part of ASO as a general member. I remember when I first joined it was by accident, I was told I had other fees to pay, one was a health fee, another kind of general fee, that was 11 dollars and then it was ASO! I looked at my receipt after I paid everything and was like, “What the heck is ASO and why am I paying for it?” My friend explained it to me and she said I didn’t have to join if I didn’t want to. Exccept most of the times, it was done as just another fee and it is not explained as an optional fee to pay if I wanted to belong. I would say most of the students are a part of it even if they don’t know they are a part of it. It is sort of like how the union is handled on a lot of jobs. You pay for it and though they try to make it sound optional, it really isn’t.
