Emancipation Proclamation-From White Guilt

This was put up on the National Black Republican Association website. It declares America free of White guilt from here on out for electing Barack Obama president. Of course, there is a steep price to pay for their “freedom.” Here is what they had to say:

We, black American citizens of the United States of America and of the National Black Republican Association, do hereby declare that our fellow white American citizens are now, henceforth and forever more free of White Guilt.white-america2

This freedom from White Guilt was duly earned by the election of Barack Hussein Obama, a black man, to be our president by a majority of white Americans based solely on the color of his skin.

Freedom is not free, and we trust that the price paid for this freedom from White Guilt is worth the sacrifice, since Obama is a socialist who does not share the values of average Americans and will use the office of the presidency to turn America into a failed socialist nation.

Granted this November 4, 2008 – the day Barack Hussein Obama was elected as the first black president and the first socialist president of the United States of America.

  1. the first socialist president of the United States of America.

Is such abject ignorance a prerequisite for membership to the National Black Republican Association?

  2. People like you are just too funny because all you can do is name call. Do you take the time to back up your position? NO!!! That is too much work and requires too much thought. Do you counter using facts why Obama is NOT a socialist? NO!!! It would mean investigating Obama and his actual beliefs. It is just easier to say we’re ignorant when it is fact the Obama supporters who dwell in ignorance because they don’t want their anointed one to fall off his pedestal. We see him for who he is, too bad we can’t say the same for you.

  3. Sigh.

If the rule for quality posting around here is supporting your arguments, I feel compelled to note that I don’t see the National Black Republican Association you supporting their claim that Obama is a socialist.

I also didn’t say that Obama isn’t a socialist, but for kicks, lets go with that. Since neither you nor the NBRA have bothered to support your claims that he is a socialist (leaving me with no actual points to respond to) the best way for me to make my case is to point out some capitalist policies he has supported.

    So here are a couple:

Obama has endorsed continuing and even beefing up President Bush’s No Child Left Behind program. This is a program that removes federal funds from public schooling and redirects them to taxpayers to use on private school tuition. It’s anti-socialist in three regards:
    1. it reduces funding for public schools and redirects it back to taxpayers.
    2. attempts to promote a competitive education market.
    3. it shifts control of the education industry away from the public sector and into the private.

A true socialist would do everything in his power to restore control and funding of the education industry to the public sector, wouldn’t he?

Another example is that any true socialist would propose single payer health care, such as they have in Canada. If anything, Obama’s proposal is designed to prop up the capitalist health insurance insurance industry.

So clearly, the man is not a socialist in any real sense of the word. Rather than list American foundations he does not seek to nationalize, I’ll just point out that he doesn’t not propose that the state seize control of our resources and industries from the private sector. That is what a real socialist would do.

Now that I’ve responded to and defended the statement that I didn’t make, please allow me to support the one I did.

This foolish “socialist” nonsense caught fire after Obama made his now infamous “spread the wealth” comment to Joe Wurzelbacher. Branding him a socialist was the McCain camp’s Hail Mary and they devoted much of their remaining resources to spreading the meme. The notion is that redistributing wealth from the rich was socialist in nature. But the fact of the matter is that income tax in the US has always been progressive in nature. Who was the very first wealth-spreader? Father of the GOP, Abe Lincoln.

Now, a quick look at the rates at which the wealthiest Americans have been taxed through the 20th century shows that Obama’s proposals don’t even approach rates in effect during most of that period. Take a look at the top bracket income tax rates during the Eisenhower administration. The highest earning Americans were paying 91%! And yet Dwight Eisenhower was and remains a champion of the Republican Party. No one would ever have called him a socialist in the era of Joe McCarthy, no less!

“…the first socialist president of the United States of America”.

Yeah, I’m the one who dwells in ignorance and doesn’t do any research.

  4. Thank you Joe, I can actually answer some of this and not just that “the NBRA is ignorant.” Now you talk about the No Child Left Behind Act. If you do some research on me, you will find I am a supporter of Separation of School and State and am a firm supporter of home-schooling. As far as I am concerned the minute the federal government gets involved in schooling, especially of younger children, you get indoctrination and socialistic tyranny soon encroaches. If Obama really wanted to turn schooling over to the public sector, why does he oppose school vouchers which would at least give parents a choice in where to send their children and a chance at a better education? The No Child Left Behind Act set up arbitrary guidelines and then told schools-“Okay now meet them!” If I told you according to your latest post I gave you a grade of 7.82-what would that mean to you? Nothing! You need something to base that on. If it is 7.82 out of a possible ten-that’s great. If it is out of 1,000 not so great. The number itself is meaningless without the proper understanding and context. That is how the No Child Left Behind Act works. The API index doesn’t give parents any real information about the school or its achievement capabilities. It just gives you a number.

Obama is also in favor a nationalizing health care and requiring all working people to have mandatory health care. That is a bit paternalistic for me. You know if you need health care and how much. You shouldn’t be required to buy it if you don’t want to. While health care should be affordable therefore making it possible for more people to buy it, it should be done through the free market and not forced through government. Have you ever been to a county hospital? I wouldn’t wish that kind of “health care” on a mass murderer-hmmm maybe I would-but if you want the health care industry to turn into one mass county hospital-Lord help us all.

It is not one comment that makes Obama a socialist but his overall attitude. He even admitted back in his Harvard days, that is who he hung around, the punks, the socialists, the militant Blacks and others as to not appear to be a sellout. These are people who formed his worldview today. So as far as I am concerned, Obama is a socialist. And he will destroy this country unless we Americans are vigilant and watchful and make sure he doesn’t overstep his bounds. What a pity he has to preside over a country with such a “flawed document” like the U.S. Constitution. God help us all.

  5. My point was not to show you that Obama is a champion of capitalism. No such thing exists in today’s American politics. The truth is that for most of her existance, America has supported her capitalist economy and infrastructure with limited socialist elements and the result has been the building of the richest and most powerful nation on the planet. Anyway, my point was to show the ignorance in claiming that he will be the most socialist president in history, which I have done. Again, the infusion of socialist elements in the mid-20th century far surpassed anything Obama has proposed or could ever be brought by a single American President.

You’re also mistaken in claiming he seeks to nationalize health care and also that it will be mandatory for all working people under Obama’s proposal. No idea where you got the former idea. Perhaps you got the latter idea by confusing his proposals with Clinton’s, which did call for mandatory health care (that was the primary difference between the two proposals and an ongoing point of contention in the Democrat debates earlier this year).

And while I’m here I’ll also point out that by your standards (public schooling and progressive taxes – the ones you measure Obama against to hang a socialist hat on him) you must also believe that the USA has been a socialist nation since the very early 20th century, since throughout the last century, we had a progressive tax system (in fact far more progressive than anything Obama proposes or could ever get passed) and a public school system that became the single greatest education system the world has ever known and was one of the the backbones of America’s capitalist success in the century in which we became the most powerful country in the world.

Also regarding your application of the socialist label, I tend to prefer that the definitions of words we use should not be diluted into meaninglessness. Socialism means the government possesses and controls most major industries and resources. If you’ve paid objective attention to him, you know that Obama has neither proposed nor supports anything resembling such a system.

Last, you obviously didn’t read Dreams From My Father, and are just repeating the out of context excerpts you’ve heard about at right wing propaganda outlets. In that book, Obama discussed his wayward college years and the pitfalls he stumbled into (this was primarily during his time at Columbia, by the way, less so Harvard) including political influences he surrounded himself with and also drug use. He also explains in the book his awakening from that life and the realization of how wrong he was. For some reason you don’t get that part of the story from the purveyors of hate propaganda that spread this stuff. Wonder why…

You’ve criticized me for not doing sufficient research. I suggest you take your own advise.
